Live Oak Canyon Road / Trabuco Canyon Road Safety Improvements Project
OC Public Works will complete a roadway improvements project to enhance roadway safety and reduce the likelihood and severity of vehicular accidents. Temporary lane closures / brief traffic stops will be necessary to accommodate this work.
Roadway safety improvements being performed include:
Installing a high-friction pavement surface treatment
Replacing / upgrading existing guardrails in certain locations
Installing rumble strips along the roads’ centerline
Grading and minor paving of shoulders to enhance law enforcement presence, and;
Improving water drainage facilities
Crews will not be removing any trees for this project.
WHAT IS HIGH FRICTION SURFACE TREATMENT?
High friction surface treatment is a cost effective safety measure installed as a thin overlay to the existing roadway. According to studies and past applications across the country, it does not encourage faster speeds and is effective in all weather conditions.
