OC Road Going Green
Global warming, stewardship of resources, LEED, best management practices, El Niño, miles per gallon, C02 banking, carbon footprint reduction, reduce, reuse and recycle, thinking outside of the box, etc. are terms we hear in every day conversations with our peers, friends and family insofar as they apply to “saving the environment”.
The County of Orange has taken a proactive position towards examining how its operations can be improved to reduce its energy needs, produce a more environmentally friendly, sustainable product and reduce the burden on tax payers. OC Road in particular is in the process of reconsidering what we do and how we do it, both internally and externally through the services and deliverables we provide to Orange County, in order to improve our delivery of green products and processes.
This web page represents an initial start by OC Road to Go Green, and is a work in progress, to be updated as our understanding of Going Green expands over time.
As a County resident, business owner, visitor or someone interested in the environment, we welcome your comments and suggestions. Please spend a few minutes perusing this web page, and provide your comments and ideas for new products we should use, internal operational changes we should consider, alternate construction technology or methods of construction we should specify, etc. If your idea saves money or time while maintaining quality, reduces energy use, improves our County Standard Plans or processes, reduces our carbon footprint, improves the efficiency of the operation of our highways, etc., the intent of OC Road Going Green will have been met and we’d like to hear from you.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing how we can better serve your needs as we practice stewardship of our scarce resources and we go green.
