OC Road Midway City (as of March 16, 2011)
Midway City Street & Storm Drain Improvements
Latest Updates:
March 16, 2011
Here is the progress report on the County’s storm drain and street improvement work
that began in February 2011 and continues into March, 2011:
- The relocation of sewer laterals and water services on Adams and Jackson Streets
were successfully completed.
- The pothole verification for utilities has begun and will continue for four weeks.
- On February 15, 2011, a Changeable Message Board on Bolsa Avenue was added. It states,
“Lane Closed for Construction from Feb 28 to March 21.”
- Tree removals started on February 28, 2011 on Adams, Jackson and Van Buren Streets
to continue for two weeks. We will then move to other streets requiring tree removals,
while following our construction sequence.
- As of February 28, 2011 the number two lane westbound on Bolsa Ave is closed from
Van Buren to Beach Blvd. This lane will be closed for three weeks for construction
of storm drain tie-ins at Adams and Jackson. Signage is provided along the roadway
to provide alternate route information for motorists.
WATER MAIN UPDATES!
- The water main relocation shut down procedure has been modified due to updated information
provided by the Midway City Mutual Water Company (MCMWC).
- Water shut-offs will impact all residents multiple times since the system does not
have valves in place that enable for shut-offs to be done by blocks. At the present
time, MCMWC can only shut-off water to the whole system.
- To eliminate the number of times the whole water system is shut-off, ten to fifteen
isolation valves will be installed prior to constructing the water main relocations.
- Residents will experience water service shut-offs at least three times for the installation
of the isolation valves and water main relocations. The installation of the isolation
valves will improve the situation and provide MCMWC and our contractor the ability
to shut-off water mains by blocks.
- Our goal is to limit the number of whole system water service shut-offs for construction.
In the future, this valve work will be a benefit for Midway City residents requiring
any water main repairs.
