Midway City Street & Storm Drain Improvements

Midway City Street & Storm Drain Improvements

Here are the updates for the Midway City Street and Storm Drain Improvement Project for August 2011:

  • Storm drains:
    • Storm drain installations continue on the following streets:
      • Monroe Street from Washington Avenue to Roosevelt
      • Madison Avenue from Monroe Street to Wilson Street
      • Roosevelt Avenue from Van Buren Street to Wilson Street

  • Street Improvements
    • Street improvement concrete work (curb & gutter, sidewalk, and drive approaches) installations have begun on the following streets:
      • Harper Street from Washington Avenue to Roosevelt Street
      • Monroe Street from Bolsa Avenue to Washington Avenue
      • Van Buren Street from Madison Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue

    • The asphalt concrete base pavement has been placed on the following streets:
      • Hazard Avenue from M Street to Wilson Street
      • Jackson Street from Madison Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue
      • Jefferson Street from Roosevelt Avenue to Hazard Avenue

  • Replacement of trees, sprinklers and grass
    • The installation of replacement trees is taking place on various streets.
    • The replacement of existing sprinklers in the parkway areas continues on various streets.
    • The installation of grass for parkways will begin the last week in August.

Residents are reminded to observe “no parking signs” and to drive slowly while traveling in construction zones to protect the contractor’s workers. It is the Department’s sincere desire to accomplish this much-needed construction with minimum inconvenience to the area’s residents. Your cooperation is appreciated. Please remember that construction sites present many challenges. Please instruct children to stay away from construction activity at all times.
